A shout for Armies, Legions & Hordes

There are a few GW hobbyists that I used to love seeing their projects in White Dwarf... Rob Hawkins, Paul Sawyer, Chad Meirzwa... Dave Taylor. A lot of these guys got on to blogging their projects to share em with the world, which inspired me to start my blog.

Dave Taylor has inspired me to try more and do better in my hobby endeavors than any other hobbyist. With that in mind I was happy as a pig in shit to back his Kickstarter for Armies, Legions & Hordes. I'd try and sell you on it but The Terrain Tutor (Mel is bloody amazing go watch his videos) does it much better. I will say that when my copy of Armies, Legions & Hordes does arrive I'll display it along with my Imperial Armour Masterclass books.

The KS is almost unlocked all of the pledge levels. Even better there's a pledge level that gets you some facetime with Dave via Skype. Now I can't afford that one but I sure wish I could. Oh well I guess I'll just have to try and meet him at a game con someday.

In other news I'm plugging along with my tanks for #armourinapril. Stay tuned for more updates!

Cheers,

CJ

Armour in April 1st Update

I started with two tanks nearly complete so I have been focused on getting them done first. The LR Vanquisher is nearly done at this point. The Gideon pattern MBT I had painted half of the metallics and then stopped. I got the rest done and now they are both ready for some washes.

I got all the Shadow Grey basecoat applied to one of my basic LR hulls as well. While I was working on the metallics for the Gideon I painted the tracks and grab handles on the armour skirt for this comparison picture. When I first started with my Imperial Guard, the tank on the left would have been fielded as is and considered done. I was completely chuffed with my paint job, too, since it was smooth, no brush strokes. That was about... oh iunno Eye of Terror? So In the interval I've made some progress.

In the modeling side of things I made some changes to the Salamander. I've added a few extra track links and an old lasgun rack. I may add some more stowage to the vehicle at a later date.

I haven't gotten any progress updates from anyone else participating yet, but when I do I'll make sure to share them.

Cheers,

CJ

It's been a busy week for me and I haven't gotten a whole lot done, but a little at a time all adds up eventually.

Armour in April!

We've had a theme to help drive hobby productivity for the past couple months. I decided that I'd start #armourinapril and get some tanks of my beloved Guard painted.

I invite everyone to participate. Leave a comment that let's me know you're in and lag posts with the #armourinapril label so others can find em easy. Fantasy warmachines and tanky creatures definitely count!

One of the first tasks is to get the above dozerblade stripped and repainted.

After I finished my Imperial Knight I decided that I wanted to keep going with large models for a while, and since the end of the month was so nice I got some priming done.

These are all eBay rescues except for the Salamander. The Chimera in the lower right looked like it had been dipped in superglue or something...

This is one of the few Gideon pattern MBTs that exist in the wild, along with a command tank I started in 2016 I think. As you can see the dozerblade is out of the brake fluid bath and parts of an old Hellhound are in there now.

Happy Easter!

Monster March: Knight Crusader Complete!

The end of the month is here and the knight that I assembled in 2015, primed in 2016,  and guiltily ignored in 2017 is finally complete.

My Knight Crusader is also my Kingsward. I've got a bit of fluff fleshed out from my initial go at it which I will present at a later date. The heraldry on the shield is incomplete, as well as there being no waterslides on the model yet. I'm waiting on some Microset and Microsol to arrive before I run at decals again.

I'm really pleased with the way everything turned out on my first Knight. I need to pick up Forgebane for the Armagers and Skitarii. I'm very excited about the new Codex and models!

Cheers,

CJ

Gaslands 001: My First Ride!

So I have heard good things about this game around the internet. I'd like to get my hands on a set of rules and maybe even find some opponents... but before all that I decided to convert myself up a car.

This is a little Radio Shack remote control car that was floating around the house. The charger and controller are long gone so I gutted it and set to work with some of the styrene stock I had.

And a couple hours later this is what I ended up with. The tanks in the back are from the Chemical Plant sprue, as is the silver scoop on the hood. I'm very pleased with my first go at this stuff. I want to find some more cars and see about just making some fun Mad Max style vehicles, maybe a whole fleet.

Cheers!

Paint Table Saturday

Just a brief update this week, folks. I've been mostly working on my Knight for Monster March.

I'm closing in on the final bits of the Knight, I've got the just the gatling cannon arm to finish up.

I also started getting some paint down on Grimm, follower of Inquisitor Draco.

Cheers!
