Inq28: Inquisition War: Lexandro D'Arquebus

Here is the completed Lex D'Arquebus. Unfortunately I'm no closer to finishing Draco or the rest of his retinue at this moment.

And a little preview of the new law in the sump...

Cheers!

Inq28: The Guilder

This is Mad Robot Miniatures 'The Guilder.' I am a big fan of this model. As soon as I saw the preview Mad Robot Steve put on his facebook page I knew how I wanted him to look.

When he arrived I decided to get him cleaned up and painted straight away. After a bath in warm soapy water to remove any mould release agent I basecoated the miniature with Rustoleum grey primer. Once that set I gave him an overbrush of Ceramite White, and from there I had at him with washes and glazes. The finish on the fabric is exactly what I wanted. I used Testors Model Master Turn Signal Amber quite a bit, in all the yellow and gold in fact. It has proven to be a versatile paint. To think I bought it by mistake.

Getting The Guilder knocked out is great on two fronts: firstly it gets me my 'Buy a model and paint it within 48 hours' stamp. Secondly I plan to get great mileage outta him as either a dubious or outright villainous NPC for some Inq28 games.

Ten stamps not including the freebie box! Stay tuned as I try and fill the card.

Cheers,

CJ

Death Guard 001: Showcase

I finally got to getting some photos of these guys. I chose the Carrion Hounds vectorum and painted them using a recipe that was featured in White Dwarf 300 way back in 2005.

So far my collection consists of the models from Dark Imperium and The Plague Bretheren. I really like those three models and made sure to snag em since it was rumored they were a limited release. An added bonus for me is the great art cards that come with the box.

As far as painting and the hobby these models are important to me since they were the models that made me dig into my Dark Imperium box and get back into it. I've been on a tear ever since through Squaduary, Monster March, and now my own #ArmourinApril.

Monster March: Knight Crusader Complete!

The end of the month is here and the knight that I assembled in 2015, primed in 2016,  and guiltily ignored in 2017 is finally complete.

My Knight Crusader is also my Kingsward. I've got a bit of fluff fleshed out from my initial go at it which I will present at a later date. The heraldry on the shield is incomplete, as well as there being no waterslides on the model yet. I'm waiting on some Microset and Microsol to arrive before I run at decals again.

I'm really pleased with the way everything turned out on my first Knight. I need to pick up Forgebane for the Armagers and Skitarii. I'm very excited about the new Codex and models!

Squaduary 2018 Complete!

We made it! The end of the month is here and I've managed to get my pledge completed in a timely manner.

I'm thrilled to be able to say I made my Squaduary goals. I'm not sure what I'll do next with these guys... I've got the Blessed Primarch to lead them, as well as the Custodes and Sisters of Silence from Burning of Prospero to tag along with him. I'd say that will make for some good Imperial Soup once I get it all finished.

Aw yeah! First square on my bingo card ticked off! I went with 'Paint a model or unit in a colour scheme you don't normally use' since I've been wanting to do an Ultramarines force for 13 or so years; since I saw Dave Andrews' Ultras in the 4th edition Space Marine book. I never did get around to it, so I took the opportunity with the Primaris Marines from Dark Imperium. That's an itch well scratched there!

Looking on I'm not exactly sure which of my many, many projects I will tackle next. March seems like a good time to get teams done...

Cheers!

30k: Iron Within!

After much consideration between the IVth and VIIth Legion Astartes, I've decided to on the Iron Warriors. I like tanks and I like lots of marines with heavy weapons. I think this will be a good fit.

I've got the contents of Betrayal at Calth and The Burning of Prospero to get me rolling. The Cataphractii Terminators will most likely become Siege Tyrant Terminators.

Captain Aethon from BaC has become my Warsmith for the time being. Once I get a hold of a Peturabo model I'll most likely make him the sergeant for the Siege Tyrant Terminators. I'm thinking of adding a servo arm to the model.

This is my first Heresy Era marine. I'm happy with the way he turned out. I've painted Chaos Iron Warriors before and I kept my recipe largely the same. The hazard stripes were just as difficult as I imagined, and I don't look forward to painting them over the rest of my army... but they look good so I'll press on with them.

Painting is done and the build marches on!

Cheers,

CJ

Deathwatch 008: Contemptor Ucuetis Complete

My Deathwatch Contemptor for the September Hobby Challenge is complete!

I decided to name the Iron Hands veteran interred within this weapon of the Emperor's fury Ucuetis. I googled forge god names and decided I liked this one.

Sculpting the arm was challenging, I've said before. Taking it on was what this month was all about, and I'm happy to have been up to it.

Here are all my completed Deathwatch minis so far. Once I get Kill Team Cassius painted, I'll start in on the minis from Death Masque.

Next up for me though is DREADTOBER!

Cheers,

CJ

Deathwatch 002: Overkill Ultramarines Completed

I got Chaplain Cassius and Vael Donatus finished up and based over the weekend. It was a lot of fun getting these guys painted up and I look forward to getting the next couple done.

I kept a picture of the GW studio model up for each of these characters and stayed pretty true to the design. I did go with a red casing on the Stalker pattern bolter and bolt pistol. Next up will be Drenn Redblade, the teleport homer, and servo skull (I think). After that I plan to work on these in pairs, except for the terminator and biker.

Here is everything I've painted so far this year. Ave Imperator!

Cheers,

CJ

Inq28: Kill Team Completed!

I finished my kill team for the /r/warhammer40k summer challenge, and managed to do so with a couple days to spare. I thought painting would take me right to the wire. Now that all the submissions are in I'm ready to reveal my mystery characters. If you're a redditor you ought to go vote!

Enter Gideon Lorr and Uriah Jacobus! These are a couple of my favorite character models. When the Witchhunters Codex was released Gideon Lorr was a limited edition release. I never managed to get one then, but the through the magic of eBay I was able to pick one up. Uriah Jacobus was a Sisters of Battle release (I think... I'm having a bitch of a time trying to find history on the fig) and I think I had one on my conversion fodder pile years ago and never did anything with it.

For my kill team I picked an inquisitor, a priest, and three veterans. I added purity seals to Jacobus and the veterans to help tie them together with something besides similar colours... which I also relied on. Red and gold feature across all the models. The veterans all have shotguns to better help heretics and mutants find the Mercy of the Emperor's Divine Light along side the priest. Lorr is armed with a plasma pistol and his bad ass hat.

Now in an actual game I have no idea how these guys will do and I don't know whether or not I'll get one in anytime soon.

Cheers,

CJ

Inq28: Night of the Skulls!

A quick update today that I should have posted yesterday or the day before. The servo skulls are done.
All minions of Inquisitor Magos Heiloran's Hunter are finished...

...and a minion of Inquisitor Renne.

I have a project in mind (in progress at this point) using the Hunter and his minions. Stay tuned for that.

Cheers,

CJ
