Inq28: The Guilder
This is Mad Robot Miniatures 'The Guilder.' I am a big fan of this model. As soon as I saw the preview Mad Robot Steve put on his facebook page I knew how I wanted him to look.
When he arrived I decided to get him cleaned up and painted straight away. After a bath in warm soapy water to remove any mould release agent I basecoated the miniature with Rustoleum grey primer. Once that set I gave him an overbrush of Ceramite White, and from there I had at him with washes and glazes. The finish on the fabric is exactly what I wanted. I used Testors Model Master Turn Signal Amber quite a bit, in all the yellow and gold in fact. It has proven to be a versatile paint. To think I bought it by mistake.
Getting The Guilder knocked out is great on two fronts: firstly it gets me my 'Buy a model and paint it within 48 hours' stamp. Secondly I plan to get great mileage outta him as either a dubious or outright villainous NPC for some Inq28 games.
Ten stamps not including the freebie box! Stay tuned as I try and fill the card.
Cheers,
CJ

Thunderer Siege Tank 001
One of my favorite thing to do is convert models. If you've been following my blog for any length of time I think this is pretty clear. For #armourinapril I decided I wanted to add another hull to my collection so I turned to the Pile of Grey Shame to see about parts.
And after a few hours of work and the addition of some greebles I have a very serviceable Thunderer Siege Tank. There is still a bit of work to do (like adding rivets) before I set to with the greenstuff to finish the build portion of the project.
Now at first I was worried about getting the 'Convert a model into a totally different unit or character. Make sure it accurately represents what it's supposed to be' stamp. I was thinking characters and models on foot and really I'm pretty well set for characters. No, that's a lie... I've got more characters than I need. But then I dug into this project and realized it was perfect to tick it off for my ninth stamp. Still no bingo!
I guess I need to keep plugging away at the pile.
Cheers!

2018 Wargames Hobby Bingo Update
A little sculpting and a weapon swap made for an efficient One-Eye Jack stand in and got me the stamp for 'Convert a model.'
I don't have a completed photo for 'Build and paint a scenery kit' or 'Sculpt something on a model' but the projects in question are my Garden of Morr and The Witchhunter's warband that I've added some purity seals to.
Finally a preview of the project in process (it's done now) of my Death Guard from the Dark Imperium box and The Plague Brethren. These projects count toward my 'Paint a model for an army you don't already collect and play' and 'Add a new unit to your army and completely paint it before using it on the battlefield' stamps.
So that's eight stamps so far for me. I've got a project for stamp number nine cooking as I type this up. #armourinapril is in full swing still. My only hope is that I can maintain this level of productivity in the months to come (and hopefully that's not a curse I've just laid...). There is plenty of plastic on my desk, and I'm really excited for the new Knight Codex.
Thanks again to Rob Hawkins for coming up with the bingo card.
Cheers,
CJ

Squaduary 2018 Complete!
We made it! The end of the month is here and I've managed to get my pledge completed in a timely manner.
I'm thrilled to be able to say I made my Squaduary goals. I'm not sure what I'll do next with these guys... I've got the Blessed Primarch to lead them, as well as the Custodes and Sisters of Silence from Burning of Prospero to tag along with him. I'd say that will make for some good Imperial Soup once I get it all finished.
Aw yeah! First square on my bingo card ticked off! I went with 'Paint a model or unit in a colour scheme you don't normally use' since I've been wanting to do an Ultramarines force for 13 or so years; since I saw Dave Andrews' Ultras in the 4th edition Space Marine book. I never did get around to it, so I took the opportunity with the Primaris Marines from Dark Imperium. That's an itch well scratched there!
Looking on I'm not exactly sure which of my many, many projects I will tackle next. March seems like a good time to get teams done...
Cheers!

Happy New Year 2018
Better late than never right?
I'm playing Wargame Hobby Bingo this year. I'm generally feeling the hobby mojo pretty good over the turn of the year and have been at my toys with a renewed vigour.
So watch for posts this year.
Cheers,
CJ
